Considering student as a customer / client
When a customer visits repeatedly and starts giving you constructive feedback, then he/she can be called as client......
In this regard if we consider, students are the clients to a educational institution. A students meets the organization more than once generally for years and students does contribute to growth of organization proactively. Imagine if you have a regular client in a business scenario, how much respect an organization offers to him when he vists why because he/she generates revenue contribute to bottom line. So does students contribute to bottom line of a educational institute, yes they are the only one in fact. So why don't colleges give due respect to students what they deserve. May be because of assumptions from past that in a teacher student relationship, student has to be obedient. Look at present scenario, every thing in this world is spoken in terms of money, all relationships depend on the direction in which money flows. So why not institutions give due respect to students, why don't institutes start considering students as their clients.... .
The moment when we consider students as clients, lots of things changes. We never want our client to wait for us, we speak to a client respectfully..... The moment we realize that if a assistant speaks rudely to a client (not student) higher officials feel the pinch... Don't we see in our offices, if there is slight mistake in behavior with client, manager starts scolding the assistant. But in colleges, teachers and other staff take students for ride many times, but there is no pain for principal/director, because they do not realize that to whom they are insulting is the person who is contributing to their pay check, is the person bred and butter to institute. The moment institutional heads start thinking in this concept of "Cash flow direction" clients will be sitting in class not students.
I am not saying give so much liberty that students spoil their future, then again I would say organization failed to deliver what was promised, but give due respect as business organizations give to their clients!
